Grandin - Pre-vocational

Named after Temple Grandin, an inspiring American academician, ethologist, and autism self-
advocate, the Grandin Classroom is dedicated to helping pre-teens and teenagers (ages 10-15)
with autism and related developmental challenges achieve their fullest potential. With a deep
commitment to supporting neurodiverse individuals, we provide a nurturing and individualized
learning environment that fosters both personal and social development.

Core Areas of Focus:

Our program is designed to help children gain greater independence and success in both daily
life and future endeavors. Key areas of focus include:

1. Emotional Regulation: Through structured strategies and support, we help students
manage and express their emotions in healthy and appropriate ways.

2. Self-preservation and Safety skills– Ensuring essential safety skills are embedded into
the system of the student with focus on learning about good/bad touch, consent,
public/private places and behaviors, using WhatsApp and calling devices for safety
purposes, etc.

3. Enhancement of Communication Skills: Whether vocal or non-vocal, communication
is at the heart of our approach. We work to enhance both expressive and receptive
communication skills, specific to community navigation and workplace skill for clearer
formal interactions.

4. Pre-Vocational & Professional Skills: Preparing students for future success, we focus
on foundational skills required for vocational activities and professional environments,
laying the groundwork for career readiness.

5. Independence in Daily Living: We emphasize the development of practical skills for everyday tasks, gradually fading supervision as students become more capable and self-reliant.

6. Group Toleration: Students learn to engage respectfully with others with tasks oriented
towards pre-vocational skilling, improving their ability to function in group settings,
whether at school, home, or in the community.

We believe in fostering a holistic approach to growth—one that prioritizes emotional well-being,social connection, and the critical skills needed for independence and success. We’re committed to empowering every child with the tools they need to thrive, both now and in the future.
