VIRTUAL SESSIONS
In lieu of the current worldwide crises, everything from a small shop to huge corporate offices were shut; and ACE was one school for Special Kids that reopened virtually. ACE as an educational institute believes that “Learning
shouldn’t stop no matter what and especially with kids with Special Needs.”
Over the past few months we have found ways to make our virtual sessions interactive, individualized and result oriented. We are building the same skills as we did in the physical classroom, just virtually and reaching families in need.
Experts in the field of Behavior Intervention, Speech, Occupational Therapy Special Education and Academics have come together to prepare a learning model which is as per the child and parent’s need; the model is not only individualized but holistic in nature, catering to the needs.
In the whole process, the therapists work with parents for the child to prepare a set of monthly virtual goals for the child. These goals are reviewed by the Therapists on a monthly basis to gauge the progress made by the child. A
Monthly progress report is then prepared by the therapist to monitor the child progress and then relevant steps are taken to bring out the best in the child in
skills that they have been struggling with.

I was very reluctant to take virtual classes for Ayushmaan since he had never shown any inclination towards FaceTime calls with relatives abroad ever. I thought it would involve a lot of my time especially with house chores during lockdown taking up all my waking hours. I’m glad I decided to start with sessions for short durations with his teacher which he slowly started liking and I was surprised to see him respond to Iris through the screen. This would not have been possible without the patience and faith of his teacher, Iris. I would like to Thank her for eliciting that response from him, more power to all of you for keeping faith. She developed confidence within him gradually. It’ remarkable how much effort goes into building rapport with a child lacking communication.Today, he waits patiently for his class to start and actually marks his days with Iris coming for the session.

After a lot of struggle to find the perfect school for my son, that would not only cater to his developmental needs but also give him the comfortable environment, one to one attention and all therapies under one shed, I found ACE. We have noticed a huge difference in our child in the last few months, this wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated and sincere efforts of his teachers. They never got tired of coming up with new ideas to fit my child’s needs and mood swings which are necessary to escape a monotonous routine especially during the lockdown.

Shubh’s virtual sessions have been a bliss during this pandemic; he loves his individual and group sessions and is always looking forward to them. They have really helped him in typing skills, calculation skills, self help skills, academics, comprehension, speech, coordination and discipline. A structured routine always helps him and these classes provide him that. We as parents also get to know different ways of making the child learn. Although they can not absolutely replace the physical classes, nevertheless they have helped us immensely in managing and supporting Shubh in these forced holidays.
